Britannia Corporate Events, the leading regatta and charter company in the UK, has been awarded by Ancasta the contract to run all aspects of the Beneteau Cup 2008.

Nearly 100 yachts compete at every level, from the family fun of a treasure hunt to the cut and thrust of the Class A IRC fleet racing. The regatta has a full programme of racing, combined with a superb programme of entertainment.
The Beneteau Cup 2008 will take place on 15-17 August 2008 in Cowes.
Simon Boulding of Britannia Corporate Events comments:
“We are delighted that Ancasta has awarded us the contract for the Beneteau Cup 2008 and look forward to working with Ancasta and Beneteau on this project. Beneteau Cup report- posted 21st
August 2007
The 2007 Bénéteau Cup was dominated convincingly by new Bénéteau 40.7
Addiction was helmed by Ian Handley, and a team hand-picked from friends
and family. 55 Beneteaus came to the event, held in Cowes over the 3 days
of 17th - 19th August. This ubiquitous class, from the world's largest
boat builder, encompassed everything from the out-and-out racer to the
2-person 21ft Bénéteau 210. Despite losing a number of the 40.7s to
the Fastnet Race (much to the regret of some!) this model dominated
the battle in Class A. Addiction managed to see off their closest rival
Tim Spalding's Love Shack, winner of 2 races, by gaining three 1sts,
a 2nd and 4th. The windward leeward mid-Solent courses also gave the
First 31.7 class a chance to flex their muscles. The performance of
Jason Corlett's Eauvation from the Isle of Mann fell only 4 points short
of winner Kurketrekker owned by Stephen Parry. Meanwhile Class B was
sailed by non-IRC yachts under the 'Handicap Nationale' system, which
suits the crews of many less frequently raced Bénéteaus. John Cervenka's
First 405 Spirit III of Southampton scored consistent podium results
to gain 1st place in Division B and Tony Brook's First 260 It's Now
or Never won Division 2. The so-called 'family division' which comprises
Class C enjoyed some leisurely white sail racing including a Treasure
Hunt with a mystery course from Cowes to Hamble. The overall winner
was John Vincent's Oceanis 50 Night Swimming, which also won the Treasure
Hunt. The highlight of the event was the Dubarry Jungle Ball, spectacularly
decorated with jazz dancing till late, but the focus, of course, was
the racing which, despite some damp and windy weather, ran with no major
delays. The event which was run by the Royal Corinthian Yacht Club,
was supported by UK Halsey Sailmakers, Raymarine, Dubarry, McMurdo,
Musto, Ancasta, Cockburns and Red Funnel. - ends -
Countdown to the Bénéteau Cup -
posted 2nd August 2007
The Bénéteau Cup in Cowes is the holy grail of many dozens of Bénéteau
owners whose cruising and racing yachts originate from the most successful
boat builder in the world. The 2007 regatta is due to kick off in Cowes
in just over two weeks' time. Entries are pouring in for the regatta
which attracts a full range of sailing and racing abilities, from crack
crews in Class A's IRC division through the Class B "Handicap Nationale"
cruiser racers, to Class C's family rally enthusiasts who get to pursue
a Treasure Hunt on their first day at the event. Apart from this attraction,
there are 3 days of full on racing courses in the Solent, managed by
the more than experienced Royal Corinthian Yacht Club, and classes will
be split in two according to their ratings to give fair racing to all.
This year features the Jungle Ball, and if previous years are anything
to go by, there promises to be a dramatic array of musical fancy dress
characters. A whole host of prizes are to be presented courtesy of Raymarine,
UK Sailmakers, Musto, Ancasta and Dubarry. The regatta will take place
from 17th - 19th August. Entries are being received from all corners
of the UK and beyond, and will continue to be accepted until 48 hours
before the event begins. There are many 'Bénéteau Cups' held around
the world for owners, but the UK Cowes event was the first, is by far
the biggest, and set to keep growing. - ends -
